We Owe You A Legacy was a brutal examination of the role of the Mother in building a post- colonial future for black women, sitting in contrast with the role of the daughter as the custodian of tradition and bearer of expectation. Using aural history, performed sisterhood and inherited cooking practices, the piece was a slow and tender meditation on generational responsability.
